Isca Wellbeing’s Shift Worker Resilience course offers a practical and engaging approach to enhancing personal resilience, improving overall wellbeing, and effectively managing the challenges of fatigue commonly experienced in shift-based roles.

Designed specifically for individuals working irregular or demanding hours, such as maritime crew, security personnel, healthcare workers, and other shift-based professionals. This course combines evidence-based strategies with real-world insights to help participants build sustainable routines, improve energy levels, and protect mental health over time.

​

The course is delivered over 7 hours through a dynamic blend of teaching methods, including:

  • Interactive presentations to introduce key resilience and wellbeing concepts

  • Guided group discussions to explore shared experiences and coping strategies

  • Real-life case studies to illustrate challenges and successful interventions in shift-based environments

​

Participants will leave with a personalised action plan and practical tools they can apply immediately in their day-to-day working lives, both on and off shift.

Course Content

Understanding and developing Resilience

  • What is resilience, and why does it matter

  • Building your resilience – tools and techniques

  • Developing a Positive Mindset
     

Improving holistic personal Wellbeing

  • Understanding the physical, mental, emotional, social, and spiritual components of health - During the course, delegates will identify the importance of taking care of the mind and body, to be better able to cope effectively with challenging environments

  • Managing work/home pressures and demands

  • Sleep hygiene

  • Making healthy lifestyle choices (diet, exercise, alcohol, hydration)

 

Managing and reducing Fatigue

  • Understanding what fatigue is and how to identify it in oneself

  • Identify how, where and when fatigue occurs – including managing anxiety and stress

  • Identify how fatigue can impact and how to reduce that impact

 

DE&I

  • Understanding and implementing proactive approaches in supporting diversity to develop inclusive & healthy practices for shift workers
     

Action Planning

  • Developing a realistic personal action plan
